Taiwan is an island country known officially as the Republic of China. Home to 23 million people this highly developed, democratic country is a popular destination for tourists, mainly from Japan and mainland China. Although Taiwan is one of the most densely populated countries in the world and highly industrialized, Taiwan is famous for its mountains and pristine forests.

Things to see

The more sparsely populated East coast is home to some stunning landscapes and beautiful nature, especially the Taroko Gorge which is a must-see, as well as Taiwan Eastern Beach, Penghu and Yehliu Stone Park. Taipei has some good museums (eg. National Palace Museum) . Also be sure to visit Sun Moon Lake in central Taiwan, the biggest lake in Taiwan, and some National Parks with some spectacular beauty, like Kenting National Park, Alishan National Park and Taroko National Park. For historical tour, you can come to where you can find many historical collections.

Things to eat

Taiwanese cuisine is similar to mainland China, but the Taiwanese are especially fond of eggs and of course seafood. Shilin Night Market and Ximending are two popular places serving typical foods of Taiwan like clam omelette, stinky tofu, pearl milk tea, dumplings and chicken kung-pao.
