Things to see

Jakarta is a historical city with various cultures. Many historical places can be visited by tourists here. You can start by visit Monumen Nasional(Monas) or National Monument. This historical monument is an icon of Jakarta. Don't ever to claim visited Jakarta if you didn't visit Monas. You can find much things related to Indonesia's national history in here. If you want to know Indonesia closely in short time, go to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). Here you can find a lot of miniatures from all of cities and ethnics in Indonesia. The most must-eat food in Jakarta is kerak telor. It's tasteful which made by fried chicken's or duck's egg with some ingredients. You can also eat this kerak telor with delicious srundeng and ketan. Srundeng is made from dry-fried grated coconut and ketan is sticky rice. Here in Jakarta you can find roti buaya (crocodille bread). This bread is unique because shaped as crocodille and always available on Betawi's traditional wedding ceremony. For Betawi people, roti buaya is a loyalty symbol for his/her mate. For another healthy food, you can try gado-gado. It's a famous food from Jakarta and you can find it in almost all over cities in Indonesia although it is a typical food of Jakarta. Mixed of various vegetables, egg, potatoes and krupuk (crackers) with soft peanut sauce make this food so tasty.
