Passengers of a South Korean airliner that made an emergency landing at a Russian airport were to leave for London on Tuesday after a substitute plane from Asiana Airlines arrived in the West Siberian city of Khanty-Mansiisk to transport them.

Asiana Airlines Flight OZ521 bound for London with 197 people on board landed at an airport in the central Russian city about 10:50 p.m. the previous day after a smoke alarm near the engine was triggered, but all aboard were safe. It was about eight hours after the flight departed from Incheon International Airport around 2:50 p.m.

The substitute plane arrived at the airport at 9:58 a.m. on Tuesday, Russia's Interfax news agency said, citing an airport official.

Customs officials said the passengers, who stayed at a local hotel as they had no Russian visas, will be ferried straight to the substitute plane late in the day.
