This small, multilingual robot is now answering travelers' questions in the Tokyo airport

If you've ever found yourself muttering about the robots who work in airport customer service, you might have a point "” at least if you're in Tokyo. Japan Airlines is currently testing a toddler-sized humanoid robot at Haneda Airport, placing it in the terminal to field travelers' questions about flight schedules, airport amenities and weather conditions at certain destinations. The NAO robot, which was designed by Paris-based Aldebaran Robotics, can answer seven questions in Chinese, Japanese and English.


Japan Airlines has scheduled two test periods for the NAO over the next two weeks before ultimately deciding whether to make it a more permanent part of its customer service team.
