Airlines in the UAE, Turkey, Lebanon and Bahrain suspended flights to Baghdad on Tuesday after a flydubai flight was hit by gunfire near the airport during landing on Monday. The UAE has expressed concern over the shooting and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Iraqi Ambassador to the UAE Muwaffaq Mehdi Abboud.

Mohammed Mer Al Raisi, Undersecretary at the ministry, demanded that the Iraqi authorities launch a "œcomprehensive investigation in order to identify all the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident, and take necessary measures to enforce international agreements on civil aviation safety and provide the required guarantees and protection".
