CAAP lifts aircraft restriction on Tacloban Airport

With less than a month to go before Pope Francis' visit to the Philippines, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines on Thursday lifted the aircraft restriction at the Tacloban Airport.

The CAAP, in a post on its Twitter account, said A320-type jet aircraft will now be allowed at the airport.


In September, the CAAP said the airport could only accommodate turboprop aircraft, following repairs to its runway.

The Tacloban Airport suffered severe damage in the wake of super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), which devastated the Visayas in November 2013.
