AirAsia announces development of new Malaysian HQ at klia2

AirAsia celebrated the announcement of its new global headquarters with a groundbreaking ceremony at the new building's site in Sepang; and the construction of the building will commence in December 2014.

Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia and Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, Executive Chairman of AirAsia Berhad; who are also co-founders of the world's best low-cost airline were present at the groundbreaking ceremony along with AirAsia Berhad's Board of Directors, AirAsia Berhad's CEO Aireen Omar, AirAsia X Berhad's CEO Azran Osman-Rani; as well as AirAsia Allstars (employees).

The airline's new corporate building will cover a gross floor area of 613,383 sq ft and six storeys, with a development cost of approximately RM140 million. It will house both AirAsia and AirAsia X's corporate offices and operations' divisions, which are currently separated between the LCC Terminal and a temporary operations office at gateway@klia2.

Targeted for completion in 2016, the AirAsia and AirAsia X new headquarters' design reflects the airline's determination in becoming the number one airline in Malaysia and across the region, while incorporating elements showcasing its professional, fun and friendly attitude.
