Qantas on Monday rolled out its Airbus A380 at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, with a celebration that included actor John Travolta.

The aircraft, which is the world's largest passenger plane, will be used for a new nonstop route from Dallas to Sydney.

Travolta, a famed aviation enthusiast, said the A380 makes a difference at the airport because it will make the route nonstop, according to a report from the Dallas Business Journal.

Qantas previously used a Boeing 747 for the route, which had to make a stop in Brisbane.

There will be more A380 luster coming to the airport this week, too, with Emirates beginning service between Dubai and Dallas using its own A380 on Wednesday.

The A380 has ties to Wichita, where Airbus Americas Engineering has work on the aircraft. Also, Wichita-based Spirit AeroSystems Inc. (NYSE: SPR) builds a portion of the plane's wing at its plant in Prestwick, Scotland.
