Jetstar will use Boeing 787 Dreamliners for its flights from Australia to Honolulu, according to a story in The Australian.

Jetstar, Australia's low-carrier and subsidiary of Qantas, has six flights a week from Sydney and three flights a week from Melbourne using Airbus A330 aircraft. Three flights a week from Brisbane will start on Dec. 18.

PBN previously reported a brewing battle for flights from Australia to Hawaii. Hawaiian Airlines, Qantas and low cost JetStar will compete in the Sydney market, while Hawaiian Airlines and JetStar will compete on the Brisbane to Honolulu route, and JetStar will be the sole airline flying from Melbourne to Honolulu.

The Boeing 787 has been embattled in the past two years, as the Federal Aviation Administration grounded the planes in 2013 after reports of its lithium ion battery fires catching fire and a Japan Airlines flight making an emergency landing in Honolulu earlier this year.
