The Tacloban Airport will be temporarily closed starting Wednesday morning to allow for repairs on its damaged runway, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said Tuesday.

The CAAP expects the closure to last from 6 a.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday, radio dzBB reported.

Typhoon Yolanda had damaged the runway when it hit Leyte province November of last year.

The CAAP had already discussed closure this with commercial carriers Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, AirAsia and Tiger Air.

A separate report on state-run Philippines News Agency said jets like the Airbus A320 and the Boeing B737 may use the airport once the repairs are finished.
