Indonesian commercial plane lands at wrong airport

An Indonesian commercial plane has landed at the wrong airport, 15 kilometres south of the intended destination.


A Sriwijaya Air flight carrying 96 passengers was supposed to land in the West Sumatra Minangkabau International airport on Saturday evening but landed at Tabing airport.


The Tabing airport stopped serving commercial airlines in 2005, and has been used as a military airfield since.


An airline representative told detik.com news portal the pilot and co-pilot were foreigners unfamiliar with the terrain. He said there was no technical failure.
