Departure tax (PSC), at Jakarta (CGK) and Yogyakarta (JOG) airports

When flying within Indonesia the airport tax is not included in the ticket price. Instead everyone must pay a departure tax, also known as the Passenger Service Charge, at the airport that may vary from airport to airport. At Jakarta the departure tax for domestic flights is Rp. 40,000. For a return flight you also have to pay departure tax in Yogyakarta. At Yogyakarta the departure tax for domestic flights is Rp. 35,000.

Make sure you have this amount in Rupiahs as the departure tax must be paid at the airport before you proceed to the departures area.

Transport to and from Jakarta to airport Soekarno-Hatta International (CGK)

Taxis from the airport are available at kiosks just before the terminal exit or outside. Booking a taxi inside is more expensive (Rp. 150.000 to 200.000), but it will be faster. Outside you will find several taxi companies of which Blue Bird is one of the best but also bit more expensive. A ride into the city would cost about Rp 100.000 to Rp 150.000 depending destination and the taxi company. All taxis use the meter (argo). Once outside you will be greeted by many touts offering you taxis, just ignore them and head strait to the taxis.

Damri provides a good bus service to numerous destinations in Jakarta and beyond. The Damri busses are all air-conditioned and comfortable. They use the toll-road so it is a quick, convenient and cheap alternative. A ticket for a destination in Jakarta would cost Rp 20.000 to Rp 30.000. You can buy a ticket at the booth or inside the bus. The Damri busses depart in front of the terminals. At terminal 1 they depart on the other side of the road. At terminal 2 they depart at the arrivals floor on the far left side.

Transport to and from Yogyakarta to airport Adi Sutjipto (JOG)

Although Yogyakarta International Airport has several public transportation options, the close proximity to the city centre makes a taxi relatively cheap. The airport is the only airport in Indonesia with a railway station where commuter trains to the Yogyakarta Tugu central station (conveniently near the Jl. Sosrowijaya tourist centre) and to Solo (Surakarta) will stop. The train to Tugu station will depart about every hour in the day time, last train is at 19:44. The train ticket is only Rp 9000

Alternatively you can take a bus: air-conditioned TransJogja busses depart in front of the train station to several destinations in Jogja. Take the underpass to get to either the train station or bus stop.

Taxis can be booked at the taxi stand outside the domestic arrivals. Most destinations can be reached for the fixed price of Rp 60.000. You need to pay at the counter then proceed to the taxis and give your receipt to the driver. Alternatively, you can walk outside to the main road (Jalan Solo): cross the railroad track and continue for another 200 meters and turn left. Around the corner several taxis will be waiting and they will always use the meter making a journey into the city cost around Rp 30.000 to 40.000
